Vacuum sewerage systems are ideal for use in Marina’s and Port’s regardless of the size of the facility. The Flovac system is an ideal solution to capture sewage and bilge water from boats, as well as restaurants, hotels and commercial buildings around a marina or port complex.
A smart advantage of a Flovac vacuum sewerage system at ports and marinas, is its versatility. It can remove sewerage waste from small or luxury boats, larger commercial vessels, or ferries. This is via easy coupling into the vacuum system using a flexible hose that can be attached to the vessel’s sewage holding tank.
The manual or automatic on/off switch for the sewerage transfer, can be timer controlled, coin or card operated, even remotely electrically controlled. Larger boats can pump out sewerage into a collection pit connected to sufficient Flovac valves to handle the volume.
The valve/hose operation for the sewerage transfer is pneumatic so no electrical power is required on the dock, which ensures a safe operation of the facility. All Flovac’s system facilities can be either hidden under the dock or locked up in cabinets.
The Flovac vacuum pump station which generates the negative pressure through the system, can be located discretely within the marina complex. A separate system then handles and treats the bilge water. All wastewater is then discharged to the town or city’s sewer or treatment plant.
Many environmental regulators now require most boat owners to provide a MARPOL certificate or equivalent document from the marina showing that they’ve discharged their wastewater at the marina and haven’t dumped it at sea or in the harbour.
A Flovac vacuum system can easily monitor discharge volumes and also arrange for the paid-metering of discharges to generate revenue for the marina.
All Flovac vacuum sewerage system’s pipework within the marina area is small diameter. And, it can be laid at a fairly flat grade in trenches or pinned underneath the docks.
Since all its pipework is under a negative pressure, our system can be laid in the same trench as water supply or power supply, which prevents any wastewater leaking out of the pipe. This reduces the time for installation of pipework and the amount of trenching that is required – both are cost savings.
No wastewater can leak out of the Flovac vacuum pipework. This means there’s no contamination of the surrounding water in the marina, which is advantageous if it’s in a tourist area. Another advantage of this, is there’s also no odours related to the vacuum system which again is very important when you have restaurants near the boat facilities.
A Flovac vacuum sewerage system is easy to install for new or existing marinas and even at large commercial ports. It offers flexibility when extending area’s or if you’re developing or extending additional commercial buildings to the port’s area.
